First Edition

The first edition of The Expert at the Card Table was self-published in 1902 by the author—a so-called “S.W. Erdnase.”

It was printed by McKinney and Company of Chicago. The copyright application is dated February 15, 1902 and was received at the copyright office on February 17, 1902. The certificate of copyright (requested in the application) was dated February 26, 1902, which indicates the receipt of the two deposit copies.
