Ten years! For the past decade, Magicana has had the distinct pleasure of recognizing and celebrating exceptional artists committed to pursuing the impossible.
We are delighted to start this week of celebration of the Allan Slaight Awards by acknowledging an emerging artist from Canada. The award comes with a prize of $5,000 from the Slaight Family Foundation, and also includes an engraved iPad to commemorate the occasion.
Past recipients of this award are: Mahdi Gilbert, Luc Langevin, Eric Leclerc, Nicholas Wallace, Carisa Hendrix, The Sentimentalists, Jonah Babins, Neil Croswell and Atsushi Ono.
We are delighted to include GABRIELLA LESTER from Vancouver, British Columbia, to this burgeoning list of rising stars.
This young and confident magician and escape artist has turned a childhood passion into her dream career. Famous for embracing the daredevil stunt of escaping from a straitjacket while suspended and hanging upside down, Gabriella is a successful and sought-after performer. She’s toured across Canada, the US, and Europe; and is one of the youngest performers to showcase her magic at the world-famous Magic Castle.
We are delighted to see this young magician’s path open up before her, and we are thrilled to name Gabriella Lester as this year’s Allan Slaight Canadian Rising Star.
